The summer opens with the ProArts East Bay Open Studios which will showcase 409 leading artists from 16 East Bay cities. This event takes place, June 4 & 5 and June 11 & 12, from 11-6 pm. I will be participating with a group in Oakland, “43 Artists @Jack London Square“. You are cordially invited to join us for an art stroll and a bit of refreshment. Welcome to Spring. With this particularly heavy rainy season, I am looking forward to being out in our hills and parks to see the proliferation of the wildflowers and the brilliant green hillsides.

I did have a wonderful opportunity to spend some time in the Everglades in Florida. My father lives in Homestead, so the Everglades is his back door. Walking on some of the interpretive trails and boardwalks during the dry season, one is more likely to see lots of wildlife – alligators sunning on the mud banks, a whole assortment of wading birds, nesting Anhingas, turtles, etc. I have made several trips to the Everglades, and now, am more aware of all the environmental challenges that these creatures face and what a fragile ecosystem this is. I will be returning again beginning of April, to document some of environmental issues: agriculture and chemical pollution, housing development encroachment, exotic plants and animals, etc.

Happy Holidays,
I just wanted to wish you a very Happy Holiday Season! I hope this message finds you well. This season is a time for giving and sharing, as well as having wonderful adventures with friends and family.

It is amazing how quickly the year has gone. I am still working on my new e-commerce website. Please check it out, but remember it is a work in progress. Converting analog (film) to digital files, while simultaneously working on my newer, digitally captured images, has proven to be a huge task. If you want to take a peek in the meantime, I always welcome feedback.

November Update

Hard to believe we are approaching Thanksgiving. I’ve been overwhelmed trying to get my new PhotoShelter website up which will enable clients and viewers to purchase my images online. It has been a challenge, since I am working with both digital images and film conversions. Who said technology is liberating?
The weather has been absolutely beautiful, I’m having wanderlust and getting antsy in my “cave”. I did manage to escape briefly to our “Popeye” cabin this weekend. Driving through the Anderson Valley, seeing the vineyards in their full fall color made me ask myself why our lives are becoming more complicated, instead of simpler.
The cabin, however, makes one appreciate what isn’t there. No electricity, no running water, no internet or wifi signal – just peace and quiet, great views, a quick jaunt to the redwoods, or a soak in the hot springs. Renewal.
